Transparency Through Technology

The Final Turn is being built around donor visibility. We believe the people who support horses in our program deserve to see what their support makes possible.

See the care you support.

The Final Turn combines professional horse care with a commitment to documented transparency. Every horse in our program has a public profile page, care updates, and photo records — so supporters can follow the journey from arrival to graduation.

📖

Individual Horse Profiles

Every horse at The Final Turn has a dedicated profile page with their racing history, arrival story, current care plan, and ongoing updates.

📷

Reviewed Photo Updates

Our barn manager captures regular photos and notes. Each update is reviewed by staff before it's posted publicly, so donors see accurate, appropriate content.

💰

Published Care Costs

We publish what it actually costs to care for a horse at The Final Turn — hay, feed, bedding, farrier, vet, and medication — so donors understand exactly what they're funding.

📊

Outcome Tracking

Every horse we graduate is tracked and published on our Graduates page. We don't hide outcomes — positive or complicated.

🏛️

Nonprofit Governance

We're building an independent board of directors, conflict-of-interest policies, and financial accountability into The Final Turn's structure from the start.

🔄

Regular Reporting

Monthly care updates, quarterly impact summaries, and an annual report are planned once the program reaches full capacity.

All photos reviewed by staff before public posting · No medical procedures or sensitive situations shown

Someone is always watching over them

Our barn and pastures have 24/7 monitoring, so the horses in our care are never truly alone. It's one more set of eyes on their safety and welfare — day, night, and everything in between.

🌙

24/7 monitoring for safety and welfare

Around-the-clock monitoring means our team can check on any horse at any hour and catch the small things early — a restless night, a horse off its feed, a change worth a closer look. It's peace of mind for us, and for the people who support them.

🤝

We protect sensitive situations

Some moments in a horse's recovery deserve privacy. When a horse is having a hard day or working through something difficult, we keep those situations protected. No specific images or details are shared without consent — we tell each horse's story with care and respect.

🐎

Technology in service of hands-on care

Our on-site technology exists to assist the physical care our horses receive — never to replace it. Daily hands-on checks, grooming, handling, and veterinary care are the heart of what we do; the monitoring simply helps our people do it better.

How donations are managed

1

Donations held in a dedicated nonprofit bank account

Once the nonprofit is formally established, all donations will be deposited to and disbursed from a dedicated nonprofit bank account, separate from any personal or farm accounts.

2

Independent board oversight of finances

Our independent board of directors will review and approve major expenditures, related-party transactions, and annual financial reports. No single individual controls all financial decisions.

3

Quarterly impact reporting (planned)

Once active, The Final Turn plans to publish quarterly reports showing horses served, expenses by category, outcomes, and donation usage.

4

Annual report & IRS Form 990

Once 501(c)(3) status is received, The Final Turn will file IRS Form 990 annually and make it publicly available as required by law.

What The Final Turn does not do

Honest transparency includes being clear about what we don't do — not just what we do.

🚫

Donors don't direct medical care

Veterinary care decisions are made by licensed veterinarians and The Final Turn staff — not by donors or sponsors, regardless of contribution level.

🚫

We don't post unreviewed content

No camera footage, photo, or care note goes public without staff review and approval. Period.

🚫

We don't overstate our legal status

We will not claim tax-deductible status until IRS determination is received. Our current status is clearly disclosed on all donation pages.

🚫

We don't hide difficult outcomes

If a horse's outcome is not what we hoped, we will communicate that honestly with donors and on our graduate records, with appropriate sensitivity.

Trust is built through transparency.

When you support The Final Turn, you're supporting a program committed to showing you exactly what your donation does — horse by horse, day by day.
