Our barn manager captures regular photos and notes. Each update is reviewed by staff before it's posted publicly, so donors see accurate, appropriate content.
We publish what it actually costs to care for a horse at The Final Turn — hay, feed, bedding, farrier, vet, and medication — so donors understand exactly what they're funding.
Every horse we graduate is tracked and published on our Graduates page. We don't hide outcomes — positive or complicated.
We're building an independent board of directors, conflict-of-interest policies, and financial accountability into The Final Turn's structure from the start.

Our barn and pastures have 24/7 monitoring, so the horses in our care are never truly alone. It's one more set of eyes on their safety and welfare — day, night, and everything in between.
Around-the-clock monitoring means our team can check on any horse at any hour and catch the small things early — a restless night, a horse off its feed, a change worth a closer look. It's peace of mind for us, and for the people who support them.
Some moments in a horse's recovery deserve privacy. When a horse is having a hard day or working through something difficult, we keep those situations protected. No specific images or details are shared without consent — we tell each horse's story with care and respect.
Our on-site technology exists to assist the physical care our horses receive — never to replace it. Daily hands-on checks, grooming, handling, and veterinary care are the heart of what we do; the monitoring simply helps our people do it better.
Once the nonprofit is formally established, all donations will be deposited to and disbursed from a dedicated nonprofit bank account, separate from any personal or farm accounts.
Our independent board of directors will review and approve major expenditures, related-party transactions, and annual financial reports. No single individual controls all financial decisions.
Once active, The Final Turn plans to publish quarterly reports showing horses served, expenses by category, outcomes, and donation usage.
Once 501(c)(3) status is received, The Final Turn will file IRS Form 990 annually and make it publicly available as required by law.
Honest transparency includes being clear about what we don't do — not just what we do.
Veterinary care decisions are made by licensed veterinarians and The Final Turn staff — not by donors or sponsors, regardless of contribution level.
No camera footage, photo, or care note goes public without staff review and approval. Period.
We will not claim tax-deductible status until IRS determination is received. Our current status is clearly disclosed on all donation pages.
If a horse's outcome is not what we hoped, we will communicate that honestly with donors and on our graduate records, with appropriate sensitivity.
